As part of its commitment to supporting young scholars and early career academics, the BIAA provides a number of different grants and awards:

• travel grants to enable undergraduate and postgraduate students to experience the cultures of Turkey and the Black Sea region
• study grants to allow postgraduates and early career academics to carry out periods of study abroad
• scholarships to enable students from Turkey and the Black Sea region to travel in the UK
• an annual post-doctoral fellowship
• an annual research scholarship 
• conference grants to support events in the UK

The BIAA also awards a number of grants in conjunction with other organisations:

• the Society for the Promotion of Hellenic Studies Fieldwork award
• the Martin Harrison Fellowship, in conjunction with Oxford University
